Our Beliefs

THE LIFE CHURCH BELIEVES THAT UNITY IS ACHIEVED BY FOCUSING ON THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST. WE HAVE MANY AREAS OF DOCTRINE THAT ARE IMPORTANT, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING FOUNDATIONAL BELIEFS:

“But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Galatians 1:11-12 (NKJV)

THE GODHEAD IS ETERNALLY EXISTENT AND IS MANIFESTED AS THE FATHER, SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT.

“When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Matthew 3:16-17 (NKJV)

THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS ARE THE INSPIRED AND INERRANT WORD OF GOD. THEREFORE, THEY ARE THE AUTHORITATIVE RULE OF FAITH AND CONDUCT.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,”
2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV)

Accept the Bible’s authority.
Understand the Bible’s purpose.
Live by the Bible’s power. (Hebrews 4:12)

MAN’S ONLY HOPE OF SALVATION IS TO REPENT AND RECEIVE FORGIVENESS AND NEW LIFE THROUGH THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST. IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD AND PROVIDED SOLELY BY HIS GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,”
Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV)

THE ORDINANCE OF BAPTISM BY IMMERSION IN WATER IS THE BIBLICAL PATTERN FOR ALL WHO BELIEVE IN CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)

Why should I be baptized? To follow the example set by Jesus. (Mark 1:9)
What is the meaning of baptism?Baptism illustrates the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. (Colossians 2:12)
The basics about baptism.Every person who believes Jesus as his or her personal Lord and Savior and desires a relationship with him needs to be baptized. (Acts 8:12)

HOLY COMMUNION IS TO BE ENTERED INTO BY ALL BELIEVERS AFTER PERSONAL EXAMINATION.

“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s Kingdom.”
Matthew 26:26-29 (NKJV)

WHAT IS COMMUNION?

“Communion” or “The Lord’s Supper” is an ordinance established by Jesus for believers to remember the death, resurrection, and new covenant of Jesus. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
  • Communion is an act.
  • Communion is a reminder.
  • Communion is a symbol.
  • Communion is a statement.

THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS AVAILABLE TO ALL WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST. WITH THIS EXPERIENCE COMES THE ENDOWMENT OF POWER FOR LIFE AND SERVICE.

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Acts 2:4 (NKJV)

WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit has had an active role in the life of Christ, and in the New Testament Church, and is empowering believers today.
The Holy Spirit’s role in the life of a believer.
  • Helper - John 14:6
  • Comfort - Acts 9:31
  • Conviction - John 16:5-8
  • Guidance - John 16:13
  • Power - Acts 1:8
  • Character - Galatians 5:22-23
  • Spiritual Gifts - 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

TITHING IS A PRINCIPLE TAUGHT THROUGHOUT THE BIBLE. WHEN WE TITHE WE EXPRESS WORSHIP IN A TANGIBLE WAY BY PUTTING GOD FIRST.

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.”
Malachi 3:10 (NKJV)

Bringing tithes is an opportunity to…
  • Give God thanks.
  • Show God that we trust Him.
  • Fight against greed in our hearts.

JESUS CHRIST’S RETURN WILL BE VISIBLE AND PERSONAL.

“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 (NKJV)
